Flights from Helsinki to Savonlinna operate during summer season. The flight takes only 50 minutes and Savonlinna airport is only 25 minutes away by car. You can also fly to Lappeenranta airport, which is about 1,5 hours’ drive from Hotel Punkaharju. There are direct flights to Lappeenranta at least from Berlin/Germany, Memmingen/Germany, Bergamo/Italy, Wien/Austria and Budapest/Hungary.
You can take a train from Helsinki and reach the hotel in 3 hours and 40 minutes. The trains leave conveniently enough straight from the airport. Trains between Helsinki and Punkaharju operate five times a day. There is also a local train connection between Punkaharju and Savonlinna (a town famous for the opera festival in July). Train journey to Savonlinna takes about 25 minutes. Besides the center of Punkaharju, the train stops at Retretti and Lusto (the closest stops to our hotel, only 1 kilometer from the hotel). It’s an approximately 15-minute walk to our hotel from the Retretti and Lusto trans stops.
Besides arranging taxi/bus/train transportation from the airport, it is also possible to rent a car from the airport and arrive to Hotel Punkaharju by car. If needed, we can help arranging taxi/bus transportation for your group from the train station or airport.
If you are travelling from Russia, you can easily reach Hotel Punkaharju by car. The nearest border crossing point, Imatra, is only about 1,5 hours drive from the hotel. Nuijamaa in Lappeenranta is also close, only about 2 hours drive from the hotel. If you are travelling from St. Petersburg, you can also come to Hotel Punkaharju by train. You’ll need to change the train in Kouvola and again in Parikkala, but you’ll get all the way to the Lusto station, just 1 km away from the hotel. It takes about 5,5 hours from St. Petersburg to Hotel Punkaharju by train.
