In Hotel Punkaharju, we will dive into the fascinating world of truffles with expert lectures, in the forest and on the plate. The specialty is a domestic wild truffle, whose best harvest season is right now. A head start on the weekend is taken already on Friday, October 14th, when Mikko ”Gunu”Karjalainen, Verneri Pohjola and Ville Herrala will serve top-level Finnish jazz in the hotel’s halls.
During the truffle weekend, we will go on a taste journey to the secret world of truffles with experts Kirsi Saloniemi and Maarit Liukolampi. There will be a thorough introduction to the secrets of truffles and a search for truffles with Lagotto dogs. Truffles are a part of gastronomic high culture and chef Mikko Lahtinen puts truffles on the plate: both domestic and foreign truffles are served for lunch and the weekend culminates in a multi-course truffle dinner. Also guidance on how to pair wines and truffles is given.
The exact program will be sent to the participants a couple of weeks before the event. The event starts on Saturday morning at 10:00 and ends on Sunday at 14:30.
