Hotel Punkaharju’s restaurant respects the local food culture with a modern twist. Local producers and natural ingredients play a key role in Hotel Punkaharju’s Restaurant menus. In our kitchen Pyry Nykänen, who is in the national chef team 2021-2024, together with Antti Rämö and their kitchen team, create delicious and imaginative dishes using organic ingredients sourced from local producers and Saimaa lake nature: fresh fish from the fishermen and Lake Saimaa, meat and vegetables from the local farms, and wild herbs, berries and mushrooms picked the same day from nearby forests by our trusted gatherers. Organic herbs from our herb garden are also used to season the dishes of our restaurant. Hotel Punkaharju’s restaurant is particularly known for its varied and imaginative use of mushrooms and the hostess of the hotel, Saimi Hoyer, is known as a passionate mushroom picker and an expert in the field. Hotel Punkaharju’s restaurant is an experience that brings the gifts of nature and local producers to the plate in a variety of ways.

Our historic restaurant halls and large terrace has a seating capacity up to 180 people at a time, and we offer unforgettable experiences with lunch and dinner, surrounded by a wonderful view.

In recent years, domestic tourism has experienced its golden age, and Hotelli Punkaharju has achieved a respectable position as the center of food tourism. Wild herbs and their versatile use have delighted people who have traveled all over Finland. Hotel Punkaharju’s kitchen has been awarded several times, most recently  in 2022 restaurant industry professionals voted Hotelli Punkaharju’s restaurant the 44th best in Finland and Glorian Ruoka ja Viini magazine chose Hotel Punkaharju’s breakfast as the best breakfast of 2021 in Finland. Hotel Punkaharju is one of the four Saima Gastronomy companies and a proud member of D.O. Saimaa. The theme weekends of the Saimaa Gastronomy network won the best food tourism product in Finland 2019 award in the national Hungry for Finland food tourism competition.

A breakfast buffet is served daily in the restaurant. Lunch and dinner are also served within hotel’s opening hours and the Hotel Bar at the entrance to the restaurant serves drinks and coffee. For a special occasion you can also order to have a dinner for two in our forest ranger’s tower. During off-season the restaurant can be made available for meetings, conferences and private occasions. Read more about our opening hours. At other times we are open upon request.
