Mushroom cruise in Saimaa lakeland 26.8.2022

See the Saimaa lakeland and forests and sample Finnish mushrooms on a unique mushroom cruise where you may also catch a glimpse of the elusive Saimaa ringed seal. The Saimaa lakeland is the only place in the world where the Saimaa ringed seals live, and there are only about 400 of them.

During the day, half the time is spent on board and the other half exploring for mushrooms on islands. While sailing between islands, there is time to ask questions and talk to experts. The guides are Jarkko Korhonen, biologist and mushroom expert, and Saimi Hoyer, hotelier at Hotel Punkaharju and passionate mushroom gatherer.

The Price includes the Cruise, guide services (in Italian and English), morning coffee and mushroom lunch on board.

Though the cruise is easy, it is not suitable for the mobility-impaired. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes (e.g. trainers or hiking boots).

Cruise through the islands south of Savonlinna (e.g. Kesamonsaari, Laukonsaari), disembarkation on the islands to search for mushrooms. Processing and studying the mushrooms found. Questions and discussions with experts.

13.00 Wonderful mushroom lunch

Cruise, further excursions to islands in Pihlajavesi lake. Processing and studying the mushrooms found. Questions and discussions with experts.

16.00 Arrival at Savonlinna passenger harbour
